Utah CCW questions

At the Orange County, CA gunshow today, I ran into a man who was passing out flyers regarding Utah CCW. The flyer reads:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Carry legally
With a Utah permit
you can carry a
concealed firearm
in 14
states: AK, AZ, AR, ID,
IN, KY, MI, MT, NV
OK, SC, TX, UT, WY
. You do not have
to be a resident of
Utah. Call (909)
987-9489 for a
local class
schedule and
details!!![/quote]

The cost is $100 for a four hour class and range qualification. The permit is $59 and $10 renewal every 5 years (so the flyer says).

Anybody know the accuracy of this? I have friends/relatives in a few of the listed states and wouldn't mind packing legally when I visit.

Thanks in advance.

Last I heard NV was pending and the permit was only valid in about 8-10 states. The price may be going up soon by about $60, but I'm not sure when or if it will.

I've got a UT CCW. UT doesn't see a difference between resident and Non-resident.

Check out http://www.packing.org
With an UT permit you can carry in;
Az, Ar, Id, In, Ky, Mi, Mo, Ok, SC, UT, VT, WY
Of course you can carry in those states through other means.

If you get a NH, FL, and UT permit. (All fairly easy for non-residents.) You can carry in 19 states. Not Bad...

Az, CT, Fl, Ga, Ma, Me, Nh, Pa, Ut - CCW Holder.
(24 states total thanks to reciprocity.)

This was true. I think the law has changed making much more difficult to obtain a non-resident CCW in Utah.

The GOA has information about a bill that was brought up in this year's legislative session. I don't know whether this bill passed. Can someone find out?

This is quite interesting, seeing as how the cost is much lower than my state, but the permit would still work in my state. I assume the info is questionable, though, due to the error re: Texas? Anyone know how much of this is true? Are you sure you don't have to be a Utah resident to get one?

You don't have to be a Utah resident to get a Utah CCW. The reason that I want to know if the bill I referred to above was pased into law is that when the law takes effect, you will have to take two days of training in Utah to get the permit. If you want a Utah CCW, get it fast!

I'll try to find out if the bill passed into law.

--------------

UPDATE: The bill passed and it takes effect May 1st. I have just read the text of the bill, and it looks like it was gutted before it was passed. The only real change I can see in the law is that CCW instructors must be certified rather than approved by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. I don't know what this means. Info at:

I don't know about the other states listed, but MO is not correct. There is no ccw in MO else leo or the such.
