USPc magazine question

I've heard that I can use USPc 40 mags in my USPc 9 and get 12 or 13 rounds in the mag w/ reliable functioning. Does anyone here have any experience doing this before I invest in 40 mags?

I have no experience but...

over at HKPRO there are plenty of people that use that set up. The 9 and the 40 compacts are both on the same frame. the mags are 'interchangable' so to speak. although i would not trust it in a defence situation it would be fun at the range!

If you're interested in fun at the range that's one thing. But don't do it on a gun used for defense, because you are technically breaking the law. You are not allowed to modify, alter or otherwise enable a post-ban mag to hold more than ten rounds. While you technically didn't alter anything, I personally wouldn't want to test the law in court.

What is the main difference between the 2 mags? Couldn't I just swap out 40 follower for 9mm follower and increase reliability? Is it a different mag body, spring, what?

If you swap parts between 9 and 40 mags you are altering factory mags illegally. Don't even go there.

Leave the mags alone.

"Strapped" thanks for the link. I have been to the HKPro board and found that thread. I just posted this here to tap into the diverse membership. HKPro seems to be a really rabid bunch of HK fans. I kinda want more objective opinion.
Thanks again ;)

When I have tried this the USP9C always functions flawlessly. It looks like the mag lips are just close enough on the 40 mags to hold the 9 rounds adequately. You can't do this with Glocks as the 40 mags are just a little too large and the 9 rounds jump out.

Amazing that some people are still under the impression that there are legal non-LEO 13 rounders for the USPc9.

It just aint so, even for $95.
