I have had an USP 40 for about 2 years now, and I LOVE it. I've never had a problem with ammo not feeding,and I've fed some cheapo stuff through it. Cleaning it is easy too.
Now, I can't quote ballistic tables for you,but .40S&W is not quite as stout as 10mm. 10mm hits harder, but something to think about is that .40 S&W is a lot more available than 10mm is.

I have the USP 40 Compact. Accuracy, once the weapon got used to me, is superior. My small thick hands do well on this frame. It will feed anything I put through it, even mixed. Highly recommend it.
As far as the comparison of the 40S&W to 10MM, the 10MM has a longer case (therefore more powder), stiffer recoil, and handles heavier bullets better, so the only comparison I’ll give is with 180 gr JHP bullets :
10MM – 5” barrel

I've had a USP40 fullsize for several years. It's the most reliable handgun I've ever used...it may be the most reliable handgun I've ever seen. I must have 8 or 9 thousand through it now and I can only remember one or two non-ammo-induced failures (stovepipes).
The checkering on the frontstrap will turn your hands into hamburger. I put a Houge Hand-All on mine and it's great.
The only thing I'd change, if I could do it again, would be to get the .45 and not the .40.

Got my third one (need to keep the other two company, right?)
Took a file to the front grip checkering...now , it's a lot more comfortable to shoot. Still has a lot of grip to it, too, but just doesn't tear my hand up.

Actually, it's the compact I was looking at.
I'm a .45 guy myself, but it's for me mum.
She likes me 1911, but I really don't think she'll play with it enough to get a good follow-up.
-before you say it, I've tried to explain to her the utility in having a gun is in being able to use it, but she just hasn't got it yet.
I'm hoping to get a gun she likes into her hands, make it easy for her to get to the range, and then let the fever catch.
The thing with this USP is that she can leave it uncocked and ready to fire, like a revo, or cocked and locked like my 1911.
Seems the best of both worlds.
Are there other makes that do this?
