USP40 to 9mm ?

Even though our esteemed SEEL says that 9mm is useless, I have an interest in converting my USP 40 to 9mm.

I would need a replacement barrel and probably extractor. Has anyone done such a conversion? Who makes the appropriate barrel?

Not happening. The 9x19 requires a different breechface than the 40.

You would need a top end.

Better off buying a new gun in appropriate caliber.

I just pulled my USP40 Compact out and looked at it to better understand what you were saying. It is not obvious why this would be the case. Could you please explain further. I thought that I had a recollection of Larry at CCF making a 40 to 9 conversion ... but I could be wrong. Dropping 9mm rounds into my .40 mag showed me one reason to go this route. If they feed reliable you get an easy 13 rounds in the 10 round mags ;>) and it felt like it was made for the 9mm.

Thanks in advance for the explanation,

I, too, am puzzled by WESHOOT2's statement. People put drop-in 9mm barrels in their Glock .40's all the time.

Anyway, my main reason for doing so is because I enjoy plinking with 9mm more than .40, and I have a lot more 9mm ammo sitting around.
