I need to know about this gun. I shot the 9mm version and it felt ok, but as good as my 1911. I am looking into purchasing a used on from some gun locally. I run some rounds through it. and there is a 90% chance I will get it right now. cuz its a real good deal any info would be appreciated thanks.

Chink - I can attest to the reliability and accuracy of the USP .45 full size. It's a robust pistol with a lot of slide weight. The upside is that the weight combined with the polymer frame absorb much of the recoil. The magazines drop free loaded or not and hold ten rounds. The pistol can be carried cocked and locked like the 1911 and also has a decocker option. The only aspect of the pistol that I don't care for is the mag release which is tucked up under the trigger guard. I can't get used to it.

If you really like the feel of the pistol, I say go for it. You won't be disappointed.

I used to have a full size USP .45, but it just didn't quite work out for me... The grip size was just slightly too large for me, but I had bought it anyways because I got such a great deal on it. But the combination of the large grip and the abrasive checkering just made the gun feel too uncomfortable for me. Otherwise, it feed everything (although I only put about six hundred rounds through it), and it was accurate...

Just make sure the mags drop free or you'll have to wait to play with your new pistol.

Will be learning that one the hard way very soon.

I agree with most of what's been said already -- a reliable and accurate gun that's probably a little large for many people. I like mine a lot (I have a Compact and a Tactical). The checkering on the grips has never bothered me, but I have heard others say they found it excessively sharp.

Chink,

I'll agree with the others here. :) The full size USP.45 I have has been just great. Reliable, accurate and fits my hands real good.

I think you'll like it a lot. Even if you don't, resale is good on these so you shouldn't lose any money if you decide to sell it later.

I shall take possesion of the pistol 10 days from sunday probably. stupid california waiting periods. I know I will be getting a good deal. $525 including the transfer fees. no transfer is private in CA.

Chink,

You -did- get a good deal. Only $5 more than I paid for mine. :)

Somehow I can imagine you'll be doing almost anything to make the next 10 days pass quickly. Let us know how you like it after you get a chance to try it out.
