I've been looking for a M1 Carbine and found more than enough info to make an informed decision by searching through some of the old posts within just the last 2 months.
I want to thank Rich, et al, for providing an invaluable service which is above all fast, accurate and free.
And it sure does beat the alternative. :)

have tape, and some spare .30 Caliber ammo...

For myself, the classic account of the M1 Carbine in combat as told by a member was how it was used to shoot a German soldier in the back. The soldier took numerous hits, fell down and ran off. He was captured and when his blanket rolll was unrolled, out came those cute little 110 grain bullets. Now that's one happy Fritz who knew how to roll his blanket!
