Using Telescope as Spotting scope?

I am just starting to do some target shooting and am in the market for a spotting scope for bench use. I am wondering about how well terrestrial telescopes would perform in this application.

I am thinking along the lines of a unit such as a Celestron C90 or a similar Meade. How would they compare to a quality spotting scope such as a 60mm or 77mm Kowa or the like?

I've read some regarding various spotters, brand comparos and model differences, but never heard anyone compare them to a decent compact spotting "telescope" like a Cassegrain-style Celestron.

Obviously I don't much experience with either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use a Celestron C90 with a 20mm
Erfle for 50x. It'll easily resolve a .22 calibre hole at 200 yds and I expect a great deal further. If you do go this route remember to get the erector visual back. R303.
