Using IMR7828SC in a .270Win or .280Rem?

I'm getting low on H4831 which I've used for more years than I can remember in .270 Winchester and .280 Remington, I'm getting low and thinking of switching to IMR7828SC, anyone using this powder in either of these calibers?? I should mention I use 150gr Nosler Partitions in both of these calibers with excellent accuracy and performance.. I've used (IMR7828) in the past in .243Win and .25/06 with outstanding accuracy, what say you?? Thoughts?? William

7828 may be a little slow for those two cartridges to be ideal. i have used it for years in my 7mm mag. For the 270, Hodgdon lists 51.2 grains as a starting load at 2536 and a max load of 56.8 at 2850. Since you plan to use short cut, start at the minimum load and work up. They don't give a load for the 280, but someone must have it. However it is hard to beat H 4831 in either cartridge.

I used IMR7828SC in my 270, none in my .280 yet!

Nosler lists IMR7828 for the .280 Rem beginning with their #3 reloading manual thru their present #7, really wanted responses from people who use the powder. In my opinion there's not enough difference in burn rate between IMR7828SC & H4831 to automatically exclude it as a possible propellent for the 280 Remington round.. Jack O'Connor wrote numerous times he used 60gr of H4831 which was sold in a paper sack not a container (I'm old enough to have purchased some of the powder myself), I never loaded the 270 Winchester round to the 60gr level.. I burned an awful lot of it in my younger years and loved it, I believe some lots of the early H4831 powder that was available to the handloader could have been as slow as the lots of IMR7828 available now.. When I get around to using the powder in my 280 Remington I will use a chrony to check velocity.. William
