Using a High-cap mag (P99) in a different gun (SW99)

I've been told there are legal high-cap mags available for the P99 (non LEO). Can I use these in my SW99? I know they will fit. But wasn't the SW99 developed after the high-cap ban law?

thanks,
Boonie

the issue is not when the gun was made, but when the magazine was made.

As long as you don't alter the magazine in any way, you're free to use a Walther Hi-Cap in a S&W clone of the same gun.

(In the same way, hi-cap mags made for the Ruger P-89 are perfectly legal in the updated Ruger P-95.)

You can alter a pre-ban hi cap in any way you want. What you cannot legally do is alter a post-ban "lo cap" to take more than 10 rounds, or possess a LE ONLY hi-cap mag.

You can do it if they'll fit but according to S&W and other sources the P99 hi-caps will not function in a sw99.
