as i sit here, i can buy handguns that come chambered in cartridges that can generate anywhere from 1600-3000 footpounds of muzzle energy. yet non of them really interest me as much as a lowly colt 1860 with a puny little roundball.
isnt it strange, smaller then a gumball, as powerful as a 38 special, completely insignificant compared to any rifle of the period. Yet for a good portion of the century it was the premier handgun of the fighting man.
