I've found a very nice mark I for sale for 145. Is this a good price? It has fixed sites and the 4 5/8" barrel. Comes with one mag. It has the black eagle on the grips.

thanks

Sounds like an OK deal to me. I bought a MkI with a bull bbl and adjustable sites in really good condition for $200 not too long ago. By really good condition, I mean I haven't found the flaws yet but I know it's used.
But I bought it on GunsAmerica and I've been told that's the highest way to do it, so look around.

With the Mk1 you dont get the bolt hold open
and
The mags are a pain to load also.
"rounds get cockeyed" when you feed them in

I like the Buckmark better,, about $229.00 plus you get the adj...sights :)

thanks for the input guys.

I already have a mark II 6+7/8" gov't model. I want to trade a FEG mark II .22 (walther PP clone) for it. I've shot about a thousand rounds through the FEG without a single jam, but it just isn't accurate enough for my tastes. I like the mark I as it should be accurate enough to serve as a plinker / trail gun without being much heavier than the FEG.

One thing that concerns me is the lack of a last shot hold open. If I occasionally run it dry and dry fire it, will I run the risk of damaging the chamber? Some people claim that the firing pin stop prevents peening, but I'm not sure...

Thanks.

You can check the chamber in the area of where the firing pin would hit and you probably won't see any peening. The gun has probably been dry fired hundreds if not thousands of times.

Again, does it have "Hecho En Mexico" stamped on it? If it does, it could be much more valuable.

I decided after getting advice here not to worry about dry firing as long as you don't just sit around snapping it thousands of times. To take the pistol apart, you have to drop the hammer. If you want to take it apart, therefore, you either dry fire the empty gun or try to take it apart with a snap cap still in the chamber. I admit I haven't tried that.
But this means you have to dry fire it at least once in awhile and it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Sorry, i forgot about the Mexico part. It doesn't say anything about Mexico on it.
The serial number is 10-109xx.

I just picked it up this morning. They gave me a straight up trade for the FEG with one extra magazine. I'm pretty happy with that.
