used hand guns

I live North of San Francisco and am looking for used hand guns. 22LR and 9mm. got any ideas?

I'm sure this isn't the answer you're looking for, but I'd suggest you check the local pawn shops.

Most pawn shops in CA don't handle firearms, because of California's extra licensing requirements. It's a big headache.

How far are you willing to drive? You can use this page to help look around (this is for everything in about 30 miles of Pope Valley). Make some phone calls. =/

Thanks

thanks for sending me in a direction. that helped. Pope Valley is a ways north of S. F. but we do hold a great Turkey shoot (Trap shoot and win a frozen turkey) every year in the middle of October. Probably 400 people show up with guns a blazen all day long. It's great fun.

You have two main options for buying used guns- buying locally through your local gun store, pawn shop or classified ads; or buying online. Many of us buy online because there are usually better prices and selection. To buy online you will need to find a FFL dealer, one who is licensed to bring in guns and transfer them to you, usually for a fee ranging from $20-$50. One easy way to find an FFL dealer near you is to go the the website www.budsgunshop.com and look at the top for "find FFL." This search feature will have you type in your zip code and then give you FFL dealers near your location. Then you need to call them and ask if they do FFL transfers.

It's actually simpler than it sounds. Good sources of online used pistols are www.summitgunbroker.com, gunbroker.com and auctionarms.com. Good luck.

You probably have some stores in Napa or Lake County somewhere. There's also a couple of places in Vacaville and Fairfield, IIRC.

There are decent stores in Petaluma and Santa Rosa. Google search will turn up a few. Ask you local NRA chapter or at the range. There are a lot of shooters and hunters up your way.

Find a used Ruger Mk II for your .22. An alternative would be the Ruger 22/45. Which ever your more comfortable with.

There are more good 9mm than you can shake a stick at. Try on as many as you can and shoot as many as you can. My preference is for steel guns, but you'll probably get a lower price for a used synthetic gun.
Personally if I were in the market for a new 9mm I'd look at the Sig, CZ, and S&W lines.
