used gun prices?

I would swing through gunbroker.com & gunsamerica.com to get an idea. Of course guns are listed at times high enough where they seldom sell. You can get an idea though. Factor in some savings if you can go local & avoid some of the shipping & transfer costs. The costs to ship & transfer can really add up.

When looking at gunbroker, make sure to look at closed auctions as this tells you what it sold at. Asking price on the auction sites doesn't mean much...

If I want a quick price check, what I'll do is go to gunbroker and look for items that are actually being bid on. If it's a common item, like a new CZ pistol, I'll just see how high the actual bids go before you won't find anyone bidding on it. So, somewhere between the hightest actual bid and the lowest priced gun that has gotten no bids is a good indicator of value. The spread is much smaller than you might think.

Inflated values

Both gunbroker and gunsamerica are good sources....unless you're stuck in a place like California (great climate, not much else great at all). Here you can take an estimate from above, increase it by about 50-100% and come close to what you'd pay-if you were lucky enough to find it. Virtually all high-quality used handguns cannot be imported to this awful place; you're stuck buying whatever an in-state resident sells on consignment.
