used 640 Centennial, should I buy it?

The indoor range that I go to was just recently sold and all the rental guns are now up for sale. They have a S&W 640 Centennial (.357) for $275. I'm familiar with this gun and have shot it myself. It appears to be in very good condition, cylinder is tight, no scratches etc., and I don't think it has been shot all that much. It has been a rental gun for quite some time but everytime I have gone to the range it has been available and the guy behind the desk told me once before that not too many people rent it. I imagine this gun is about 2 -3 years. old, I'm guessing. Is this a good deal and is it as good or better than the new 640's. I have been planning on getting a 640 anyway so would appreciate advice and opinions. Thanks much, Mike

I just saw a used one on the eastside

For $350. If you are confident in the condition of the piece, that sounds pretty darn good. I was ecstatic to score a mint one at the show for $300.:D

I concur with other poster's; as this sounds like a really
good price, if the gun is in stated condition. Follow Mr.
Jim March excellent tip's for checking out this weapon
before purchase. It can be found right here, at TFL.:D

Bought a 640 in 38 spec. with 3" barrell about 3years ago,new in box and paid $325. only 3" Ive ever seen. Liked it so much I put red insert in front sight, put on S&W Combat rosewood grips and sent it back to smith to have it lazer ingraved.sure looks pretty but shoots better than it looks and travels well. since it's +P rated I feal good to go!

Being able to shoot a fixed sighted revolver, BEFORE buying it, appeals to me, just to see if it shoots to point of aim.
