Used 44 Mag values

Can anyone point me to a good source of information on used 44 magnum revolver values?

I was at a local gunshop the other day, and they have 3 used 44 mags for sale. I am thinking of getting one, but need to do some research. The ones the store had were:

S&W 29-2 (3 screw) blued with an 8" (I think) barrel. The finish was in good condition, but the grips were a little banged up. Asking $499

S&W 629-1 Stainless with 6". In pretty good shape (but dirty) Asking $499

Taurus Raging Bull in stainless w/6" barrel. In good shape but absolutely filthy (looked like it had never been cleaned) Asking $439.

I am kind of leaning towards the first one, but have no idea if that is a good deal or not. Judging by the price on the Taurus, I would say the prices are high.

What do you guys think?

I have a 29-2 with the 8 and 3/8 bbl that is a lovely shooter! However, seems I heard that S&W beefed up the model 29 somewhat after this model. So, I wouldn't shoot full house loads through it on a steady basis.

For the monor difference in price, I wouldn't even consider the Taurus.

The Bluebook of Gun Values should give you an idea of price, subject to regional variations.

Poygan: Thanks for the heads up on the frame issues. I did a little bit of checking and it looks like Smith started strengthening them with the -3 model and on. I think I iwll keep looking for now.

Everyone else, thanks for the input.

Check out the original Ruger Redhawk, my dad has a blue one(just got it a month or so ago), and its beautiful. Great shooter to, his at least has a really nice, smooth action. I've tried a couple that weren't nearly as smooth though. Other nice thing about it, is they will handle the full power .44 mag loads without flinching, and is pretty accurate, depending on the ammo.

//EDIT

Another thing, a new or like new one can run as little as $400 if you look hard, gently used(the condition dad got his) it only cost us $350.
