US PALM Defender Body Armor

Many people think that body armor is either too expensive to own or that it's illegal to own. Neither is really true.

There's a new product on the market from US PALM that is affordable and is designed for the entry level buyer. It's priced at $199 and $299 and gives the wearer a modest level of protection, and it's designed for home protection duty.

As for the legality of owning or buying body armor, it's only illegal to be in possession of body armor if you're a convicted felon (federal law). If you're not a felon and you're not wearing the armor in the commission of a felony, you have nothing to worry about from a legal standpoint.

Questions and comments are welcome.

I have one, in the Handgun configuration.

I keep it by the bed for when I have to awaken and go check on what made that "bump in the night". It gives a reasonable amount of protection for it's modest cost, and it's adjustability makes it very versitle. While lacking in full frontal or rear protection, it does a great job of protecting the important bits, upper thoracic region.

I agree with you Biker, it does a good job of giving you reasonable protection. Just remember to meet the threat with your chest square to it, and the body armor will work for you.

It's small, light weight and designed specifically for the home owner. Sure, it would be nice to have full armor but it's more expensive, not as fast to toss on in a hurry and isn't really necessary in most home invasion type situations, IMHO. This vest walks the middle ground quite nicely and honestly, I'm impressed with it.

Mine sits by the bedside as well.
