US Dept of Justice Memorandum Opinion for RKBA

The United States Justice Department publicly released a long document, signed by three deputy assistant attorneys general, spelling out in great detail the linguistic, historical, and case-law reasons why it officially considers the right to own guns an individual one, just like the rights protected by the First Amendment, and not merely a collective right or a guarantee that states could manage their own militias.

It's, as stated, a long document....... but worth the read. It was released in August of 2004. This may have been posted already. I've only been here since March of 2005...

Staff - I wasn't sure if I should put this here, or the Legal/Political forum... feel free to move as you see necessary.

Not big on current events, are you?

As you noted, it was written 10 months ago and released to the public about 6 months ago - hardly breaking news...

You'd know this had you bothered to run a simple search for the previous threads before adding a belated one.

Thanks anyway.

Since when did TFL start employing thread police? I thought the current staff was sufficient.

Take snide remarks elsewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of people who haven't read this document.
