US ak's

What parts did they change to make them US made? Was interested in getting a US-Romanian, but leery because I don't really know their reliability.

I have one and I'm glad I got it. Brand new in the box. All the wood matches, Front sight is straight. The rifle is really nice and worth it IMHO. There are six parts on them which make it American. The hammer, trigger, disconnector, gas piston,The butt stock may be, The mag reciever may be as well. I'm not sure on the last two.
I have not had mine to the range yet,but from what I've read I'm sure it will do well.
Go over to WWW.AK-47.net I know you will find your answers there,I did. ;)

Hope this helps :)

Hesse and another manufacturer make AK receivers. A lot of these AKs are like the legal FALs, a combination of US and imported parts that doesn't exceed 10 specific items.

You could always buy a SAIGA in 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 and have it converted to standard AK configuration. Then you'd have about the best AK that money can buy.
