Urika, Rem. 1100 or Teknys Gold for trap?

Can't afford an OU for trap so I narrowed my selection to the Autos.

Which would be better for trap, Remington 1100 premier trap, Beretta AL391 Urika trap Optima, Urika Parrallel or Teknys Gold with adjustable stock?

My brother has an Beretta 391 that everyone is telling him is too light that an 1100 would be a better choice. Besides recoil, why is a light gun bad?

Or should not get an auto and save for an O/U.

This would be a range gun only, all input is greatly appreciated.

Regards
Billy

I agree with Dave McC. I have shot the 1100 and several other High End guns but I allways do best with a pump I've had for 35 years. Just because it feels good.

Good luck shopping

You might try trapshooters.com. Right now things are a bit slow, because everyone is going to thier respective state shoots. Once the state shoots and Grand is over, alot of guns come up for sale on that web site.

I just sold a Model 1100 LH Trap on that web site, still trying to move my RH 1100 trap.

Your Bro can always add weight to the Beretta.

Every Beretta auto I have shot has had weight added. The guys I know shoot Sporting Clays and went to auto due to recoil. They add all kinds of weight to save their shoulders.

At one point I told folks that Berettas were heavier than 1100's, well the ones I handled were :D

From my experience the Beretta seems to have the edge in reliability, although owners of the other makes will probably disagree.

[rant]PS I hate autos, flippin those hulls all over the place and jammin at the wrong time. O/U's are definitely more civilized and are shot by Gentlemen (and Ladies). Autos are the infernal tools of the demented. Almost as bad as 410's.[/rant]

I am offended as i enjoy shooting both.
On topic i just got a beretta 3901 that I use for skeet and it is currently being run through the gauntlet until it has a single failure or 500 rounds whichever comes first. I am thinking that it will be the 500 rounds.

I would not pay much attention to the k80 packin' snobs. Guy's like him are the ones I always put my shell catcher in my pocket for.

Another excellent tractic for snob elimination trap shootin' is to discharge a round into the dirt about a yd short of the trap house and say, "oops - release trigger - I'm just learning."

That will always rattle the hell out of those snob's.

Nothing like an inferal tool in the hands of a man with a demented sense of humor.

God I luv snob elimination trapshootin. :D

Possibly you could learn some manners while you are at it. K80Geoff is one of the more intelligent posters around here with a lot of good info on target shooting.

Yes I respect k80 and said what i said as a joke it had nothing against him. Many times he is the only person to post on a theard and he has helped me out numerous times. I would get the teknys. But with an 1100 you would have money for ammo. That is also something to take into consideration. If you are serious you will spend more on ammo than you ever will the gun. Keep that in mind on your shopping expeditions. Also the beretta's will be easier to clean and in my experience more reliable. I would buy what fits you best so you have to make the fewest number of modifications.
I would also look at the browning BT-99 As they are some of the best trap guns for the money but if you ever want to shoot skeet with the gun it will be unsuitible.
Good luck and have fun,

(p.s. went to the trap field and shot a 20 not bad for the third time out.)
