I have a chance to buy a Delta Elite, blued, 95% condition with a "perfect bore" for $525. The serial number is in the DEO6000s and it has the cut-out in the frame. Any suggestions?

Not a bad price at all, and the Delta Elite is 10mm stopping power in a classic frame. The traditionalists who can't get themselves to like the Glock 20/29 really dig the Delta Elite. I would pick it up myself for that kind of cash, a 1911 in 10mm has got to be a swoopy piece of hardware.

So you've taken a liking to 10mm? I just switched my "big" carry gun from a G23C to a G29 that I traded at the gun show last weekend. 10mm is a wicked round.

I heard that Colt stopped production of that gun because the gun couldn't handle the battering of the 10mm like other guns could at the time. It may have just been a rumor though.

Battering concerns forced a change in the Delta's design (the cut-out). However, Colt ended production because they felt there wasn't a market for it. Well, wasn't the first time that Colt screwed the proverbial pooch. The 10mm (and especially the Delta) have become a Colt fave.

Oh, lendringser, I've always been a 10 mm fan. In fact, I've got a Glock 20 in my arsenal . . . I mean, collection, now. Sweet! But, it's a little chunky for carry, so a 1911 would be nearly perfect.

Yeah, I've been looking for a 10mm 1911 style as well, but the one I want is really hard to find. I want an AMT Javelina (ok, stop laughing!). I think that with some tuning, the 10mm in a SS longslide would really kick some butt!
