According to the editorial on the LA Times website (www.latimes.com), one of the measures that S&W will implement is to make grips too large and triggers too heavy for children to operate.
Combined with the modification to preclude use of high-cap mags (which probably means going to single-stack only) S&Ws will be essentially impossible for women (whose hands generally are closer to childrens than men) to use. In addition, they'd be useless for concealed carry.
I don't know how accurate the Times is but it only goes to show that S&W truly sold their soul. They get nothing from this deal except LEO contracts (which will be filled with weapons exclusively designed for LEOs since the aforementioned abominations would not suit their needs).
