My 2 USFA Zip pistol with new Zip upgraded BX-25 Mags. I got black Zip in 2013 when it 1st Came out. Made a trip back to factory. lots of trying times to make it work.
I Had to shave plastic off the old gun in rear of mag well to fit. The tan new 2015 production fit just fine.
Best to use Blazer 22 ammo.
They Work now.

I must comment as USFA made some of the most beautifully finished pistols and Lightning rifles ever to see American trail dust.....but to forgo them to make non functioning staple guns is beyond me. And it seems you, Peggy, got stuck twice! Are they still producing that thing? Thought they went under several years ago.

Are they still producing that thing? Thought they went under several years ago.

I don't know if they still make them or not, but I saw a couple at the Fredericksburg (Va) gun show Saturday morning.

Now they might have bought them years ago and couldn't unload them, but they were there.

Edited to add: The website appears to be up to date, with a late 7/15 promotion listed.

Who knew?

Thanks Cajun but i was not interested in buying one i primarily use stickey back targets so no need for staples:D

So now that the gun is running, how does it shoot? And about how much does one cost?

(I've bought a Kellgren Grendel P-10 in the past, so I'm not above spending my money foolishly :))

If you look around, you might be able to get one for $120-ish.

The .22 ammo situation is still unfortunate. Personally I'd pass, or put that $120 to something more ...practical.

Those single actions were beautiful. I'm not a businessman, but I guess I can understand USFA discontinuing the single actions if they did not produce the desired profit. I can understand them deciding to produce a cheap .22 that they could perhaps sell a million of. But, the design they chose??? Did they even sell a few thousand, or a few hundred? Other than peggysue's report, I don't recall reading anything positive about ZIP pistols by people who actually own these....

I have a USFA Rodeo I bought new in 2005. It still bothers me that they don't make SAA's anymore. What a loss!

Do they still dump hot spent cases in your hand, and spit burning powder residue on you?

Mine does. It also fires out of battery. Well... it did a year or so ago. I havent touched it since that day...

I should've bought that USFA Rodeo years ago when I had the chance.

I kind of wanted one of those Zip guns till I looked them up on youtube - nothing but problems. Seemed like the owner of the company had the only working Zip gun.

Its a real shame what that company came to be. They used to make the best Colt SAA clones on the market.

In fact, my two USFA SAAs are nicer than my Colt on the right.

I like working on the bastard firearms to see if i can fix them. Got the Zip going. Buds have them for only $122. Not much money for a toy.
Can't say the same about the Rogak 9mm pistol I bought to try to make work. Even with a parts gun. I gave up on that.

I have a USFA 12/22 I got in 2008. Beautiful blue SAA.

Peggy, All is forgiven......besides you gave a bunch of us the opportunity to share our loquacious comments with others. I too like a good challenge but a Zip is beyond what even i would take on.

i saw a few of those zipguns at my big box for like 125$ last year, I shooda picked one up. I could only imagine they'll be a pricey curiosity a few many years from now.
