update on my new press

I have loaded about 3000 rounds on my new Hornady LNL AP and can honestly say I love it. I have loaded 223, 45 acp and 38 spl. I did add the powder cop die and have ordered the powder through expander die and Hornady 223 bullet seater die. All in all no problems except I did break a primer feed part one time. and since have learned my mistake. If I had it to do over I would buy this press again without a doubt.
 
Before using the press I watched all the setup videos and set it up accordingly. It was very easy and works great.
 
I did buy the Hornady powder cop, the plunger is reversible so it can be used in straight wall cases and also bottle neck cases. It works very well and will show if there is no powder or too much powder. Being an automatic indexing press it would be hard to double charge a case unless you manually backed up the shell plate and dumped powder a second time. I have a practice where if anything doesn't feel right I remove all cases from the shell plate, check them and start over. Don't take anything for granted, check everything.
I also bought the light so I can easily visually check the cases for powder.
 
I have never seen a bad review on that press. I went with the Dillon RL 550B several years back. Thousands of rounds loaded on it too.

If I had a little more money than sense, I would get the Hornady as well just for the fun of it.
 
I ordered the RCBS lockout die from Midway and it should be here today. I will use it for pistol loading and the powder cop for rifle.
 
The rcbs powder lock out die works great, it does lockup the press if the powder is too low or too high. You do not have to keep looking at it like the other powder dies. It would only take one time not to look with the other dies and you could have a squib or double charge and not know it. I like the lock out die much better. Well worth the money.
 
not that hard at all. it has a threaded rod and can be adjusted without removing the die from the press. well worth the money.

It's a bad habit to start and you are well down the path. Having purchased a progressive, you are now obligated shoot all that ammunition you create or it will fill up your household! It is a vicious, never ending cycle, load and shoot, load and shoot, load and shoot. Progressive presses are bad for people with obsessive compulsive behaviors: they just add fuel to the fire of addiction.
