Unmarked SIG factory pre-ban mags for the P226?

I've been reading the SIG mag threads in the TFL archive, but am not quite clear whether unmarked P226 mags were ever produced by the SIG factory.

Specifically, I bought a pre-ban SIG P226 mag from a dealer who said it was made by SIG. It looks exactly like a SIG factory mag: zigzag seam, spot welds, etc. But it has no markings on it of any kind except for the numbers by the witness holes.

Does anyone know of unmarked P226 mags that were authentically made by SIG?

Thanks in advance.

Yes they are. Unmarked mags are mags that came with a gun when it was new from the factory. I have also been told that the zig-zag seam is only on factory mags for Sig.

"Unmarked mags are mags that came with a gun when it was new from the factory."

I beg to differ. When SIG Sauers were shipped with standard capacity mags they were cleary marked with the words SIG Sauer, Made in West Germany (Made in Germany newer ones), the SIG symbol, model and caliber. The factory demos sold by places such as CDNN www.cdnninvestments.com/2269mm15blud.html are indeed genuine factory mags, but these seem to be military contract overruns.

elector, those sure sound like SIG mags to me! I think Texas Rusty is correct about the zig-zag being found only on SIG factory mags. I've never seen this on any of the aftermarket knock offs.

FWIW, I recently bought four pre-ban P226 mags, all of which are SIG factory according to the dealer. Two are marked Sig Sauer. One is marked Sig Sauer P226. And one has no markings whatever other than the cartridge counter numbers.

All four mags have the zigzag (dovetail) seam. At first, I was concerned about the lack of markings on the one mag. But except for the markings, I can't tell the plain mag from the other mags. So my working assumption is that the unmarked mag is a factory mag.

HTH.
