Universal Scope Side Mount?

Howdy All,
I have an old Springfield Meteor Model 52A and I'm wondering if there is a way to mount a scope using a side mount base. It would have to be high enough to allow the bolt to cycle. I would like to mount an old JC Higgins 4 power scope.
Anyone out there have any ideas?

What I've seen on period correct 52s is drilled and tapped barrels... with base blocks fit.
I'm sure a smith could fit some sort of bases on the receiver, if that is what you want.

Cheers,
C

Side Mount

Midway has a treasure trove of rifle side mounting plates upon which one
can then add the correct over the barrel Weaver scope mounts.

For my Reising M65 I just found the correct side plate that fits the already
drilled mounting holes that were there when I purchased the M65
from a former Marine who kept his mounts/scope and
replaced it with Lyman sights.

My just acquired new, Optics Planet, 4 x 32 scope with night lit red cross hairs
are just the ticket for HAREs at dusk.

He also gave me a NOS M65 stock that I have wrapped up over these many years
after I polished it up with 0000 Steel wool/min wax and Mother's Wax
to bring out the amazing wood. The original stock got the same treatment
and it puts the plastic-elastic stocks on rifles today to shame.
