Seems calling this M1 clean may have been an error. After a trip to the range I knew I'd be doing alittle more work on this rifle. Couldn't get 2 rounds down range without a jam of some kind,tried a friends good mag,no help. Got home and striped her down to find a mess. A lifetime of being wiped down, never cleaned. Hoppe's a brush and elbow grease solved most of the problems,just one left. How do you clean the gas chamber/piston? Doesn't seem to be anyway to open or remove it from the barrel. When you hold the barrel, muzzle up, the piston doesn't always extend freely. Given the lack of cleaning,I'm afraid to imagine what it may look like inside. Any tips or tricks for cleaning this vital area?
