Unique or different training tools

I often do two drills that get me weird looks at a public range.
The first, a "double pie plate drill," really works on accuracy. I overlap two different colored pie plates and practice shooting at the partially obscured one. It practices against a target behind partial cover- whatever or God forbid, whoever, may be used as that cover.
The second is a "back up drill," where I try to get a good 6 shot group on a target from 3, 7, 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards with only one shot from each range, coming out of the holster. (Yes, unholster, fire, re-holster, and then back up) Then I move to my second target and go back in. I figure it shows me how "tight" I can stay and creates a "line" that I can clearly see if I am doing anything wrong.
These work for me; I was wondering if anyone else had any training ideas?

Wish I could do this at my range , as I would be there more often if I did . I live in Illinois , where the gun - and range laws are near draconian . I do similar drills when shooting at a friend's farm . Reload drills , as well as transitions take up alot of time .

Good post .
