Unintended Consequences The Movie?-

Why Not?
I know this board has some very heavy hitters in the Gun Culture, I'll wager that most charactors would jump at playing themselves, I'd love to see Dick Davis educating the President?
Kem Lamont is still kicking around and computer generation can easily replicate Ms reno?
Wouldn't GOA and JPFO jump on board?

Hollywood wouldn't touch it....They love the Gun police......Hate the second amendment...
I'd love to see it played accurately to the book though!!!! Be a hell of a rude awakening for the sheeple, when they see what the ATF and congress are responsible for......

If there's to be a dollar made, Hollyweird would do it. However, being so far to the left they will be unable to resist the temptation of wreaking wholesale re-writes to make it fit their idea of how things should be.

Do you want Henry Bowman to die at his friend's house on the night of the first raid? Thats what Hollywood would do to the story.

U.C. - The Movie

Sounds like we need to get John "Red Dawn" Mills interested. I suspect it would be another "Red Dawn" type movie. All the good lib/soc would hate it, bad mouth it, etc., and the rest of us would give it a standing ovation at the end. Can't wait

Would you guys stop speculating about moot questions and get to the important question: Who would play Cindy Caswell???

Hollywood would rewrite it so that it was the fearless, noble FBI (with Martin Sheen as President and Ben Afleck as Jake Stone, leader of the HRT) fighting against ruthless terrorist militia force led by Rod Steiger.

Danny Glover would play the Attorney General.

My vote for Cindy Caswell role?

Jeri Ryan

All,

Folks, two main points must be kept in mind:

1) TFL is about responsible firearms ownership, and
2) this is a family forum.

I commend y’all for using links rather than including pictures.
Photos take up server time and bandwidth - so links are strongly preferred.

If the link is to adult or even risqué matter, so identify the link.
I’ll take a chance on “policy” and ask that you do not link to dialers.

We have families and kids on TFL who probably have no experience
with the .exe files which, when downloaded, frequently give no clue to
the horrific expense which can be involved. Therefore, do not link to
dialers.

Oh, and just to encourage understanding of our “responsible firearms
policy,” including a comment or a photograph of (or relating to) a
firearm does not automatically mean it’s TFL material. That judgment
is the call of the TFL Staff as noted in TFL Policy #4.

Thanks for your help in keeping TFL on “The High Road.”

Well, John had been talking with some folks prior to his stroke, and I don't know quite where negotiations ended up... I think there may be a chance tho... He also said that he was working on a sequel, but I don't know what sorta state it's in...

Ms. Gellar is an excellent choice. What's Nev Campbell doing these days? Back to Kanada?

Who the heck is Jeri Ryan? I think I played football with a Jerry Ryan in high school? Offensive lineman?

Who the heck is Jeri Ryan?
Jeri Ryan is the ex-Borg from Star Trek: Voyager (don't get me started on Socialism Trek).

As to Unintended Consequences -- The Movie, I concur with John/az2. This would be a must-miss film. While I enjoyed the firearms lore the book contained, I have never read a more morally bankrupt piece of work. The world of Henry Bowman is one of freedom without morality. I cannot accept the idea that so many people here would cheer the "hog slopping," the deviant behavior for the sake of "the cause," and the wanton disregard for human life. I would liken reading the book to watching an autopsy -- informative, but disgusting. The Hollywood crowd would make us all look like Henry Bowman, and that is something I could not bear to watch.

So what's so immoral about what Bowman did? He killed some people. O.K., a lot of the Founding Fathers killed people, government agents none the less.

And George Washington did what? Francis Marion was a what? Heck, they even committed treason on top of it.

He has different sexual standards and practices? And Ben Franklin, Tommy Jefferson and Aaron Burr were Shakers?

A lot of people cheer the "hog slopping" of Francis Marion. Heck, they even named an entire county in Indiana after him (Marion County, Indiana--there's even a momument extolling his deeds of butchery). Who was that movie that everyone went to see? Oh, yeah, "The Patriot." Who was that based on?

morally bankrupt?

how is any action in that book morally bankrupt? i mean if a bunch of black suited, jack booted thugs with silenced MP5`s and AR15`s to plant drugs, counterfeit money, and sawed off rifle barrles, and then make a raid based on anonymous tip while the owners of the house are away on vacation...and henry bowman is the one who is morally bankrupt? for fight back?

Who would play Cindy Caswell?
Who would be willing to? If it were true to the role, the actress would be required to do some fairly explicit things. If the movie were true to the book, the sex and violence would put it in NC-17 territory.

Even if potentially objectionable elements were removed, the story would require serious changes to be a 2-hour movie with any kind of intelligibility. The book jumps back and forth in history and frequently switches viewpoints. We only have to look to the failures of the Watchmen movie to illustrate this. The movie was fairly faithful to the book, but the story just didn't fit the medium.

Remove the historical parts, and we're left with what most folks would consider to be a violent anarchist wish-fulfillment story.

Then there's the question of budget. Even if there were folks in Hollywood with an interest in shooting this, it would be perceived by the mainstream as a genre/agenda film, and it'd be lucky to get $5 million.

thats what they thought about red dawn.....and watchmen the movie was way off from watchman the comics,as the comics it was a the faking of a alien invasion not the framing of doctor manhattan...
