Undewood extreme defender

Hot Shot

Has anyone had experience w this ammo. There have been several good reviews on it for self defense and one that calls it a hoax. I have been carrying it (90gr +P) in my 9mm s&w shield and recently had a need to use it on a previously shot (by a poacher) crippled deer. I was able to get within 15 ' of her. My first shot was into her lung which collapsed her and kept her down but of course still alive. My second shot within seconds was to her head/neck which killed her and put her out of her suffering. Neither Bullet exited.

I' m wondering if anyone else has experience with this ammo's killing power.?

I wouldnt trust it, i dont like light bullets, they lack the momentum to penetrate living things.

Weight is good

And virtually all gel tests agree with your comment. Been carrying & shooting 9mm's for 27 years now, 124 & 147gr bullets are the most effective.

Except for out of short barrel guns, which a lot of folks carry.

Due to the lower velocities, the heavier bullets tend to not penetrate deeply enough for FBI standards when they do expand, or don't expand at all. This is most apparent in low velocity cartridges like 45ACP or 38 Special.

You can't say heaviest is best or fastest is best. There needs to be a delicate balance of projectile weight, projectile design and velocity in order to perform well in gel tests.

Bullets at either extreme don't usually perform well.
