The Pennsylvania based airline USA 3000 has banned all transportation of firearms and ammunition in passengers baggage-even checked baggage. One thing to note, the NRA got the phone number for the airline wrong. Interested parties should dial 1-877-872-3000, not 1-800-872-3000.

Also, for those flying to Canada, Air Canada now considers checked-on firearms as "hazardous goods", the carriage of which will cost an extra $50.00 each way.

This amount might not be large, however some might think the principle is.

"Stupid is as stupid does"

Hmmmmmm, lessee... Federal Air Marshalls carry guns - that must mean the antigun stooges who run this airline have banned them, too; hey, "all" means "all!!"

That means USA3000 flights will be prime targets for terrorists, seeing as how there will be no armed Air Marshalls on board; that means people will be afraid to fly USA3000, and some people (hopefully gun owners, at least) will boycott the airline on principle...

Do the math.:D

IIRC, this is old news. USA3K put this policy in place a few years ago. I emailed them telling them how gorram stupid they are, and got a "Thanks for your input, now sod off" reply.

Earnest T. Bass:

I doubt, though one can never tell about some things, that the strictures mentioned would apply to Federal Air Marshalls. They aren't "passengers" in the usual sense of the term, and beside, their firearms would, one hopes, not be stashed in luggage, either checked or carryon.

Coinneach:

It may be old news, as you describe it, however I was unaware of it. Also, it came to my attention via a current NRA alert. As to responding to their stupidity, I e-mailed them the other day. No reply of any sort as yet.
