Uncorroberated rumor: No more imported "assault weapon" receivers

I have heard this rumor from a very reliable source. If it has not happened yet, it will very soon. Buy while you can.

Here is my question: I am not really up on the topic, so what should I buy as an investment in light of this upcoming ban? What are some examples of exact items out there that will be affected, because I might want convince some of my friends (who have money - I don't) to pick some up. Anything under 2k is fair game.

If we buy a couple of receivers now, does that protect us later on ? I can't afford another gun right now, but the FAL was one of the next on my list. I could probably scrape together enough for the receiver, and then build the gun in a few months.

I have checked this story out and here is the skinny.....as webmaster of TRTeam.com it is for real

BATF has now banned the importation of "Assault Weapon" Receivers and Barrels.

President Clinton directed the Secretaries of State, Commerce, and Treasury to implement after the second Summit of the Americas, in Santiago, Chile. The purpose of the Model Regulations is to provide standardized procedures for the international movement of firearms, their parts and components, and ammunition so as to prevent illegal trafficking in these articles. This final rule also makes technical and conforming amendments to certain sections of the regulations. In addition, this final rule revokes Rev. Rul. 69-309.
