Um...I think I just went overboard on sights. Bigtime :)

Even though this is a pretty crude imitation of Tim Sheehan's work at Goshen on the Hexsite, it's close enough and works well enough that I'm 100% convinced he's on the right track. Tim said that what I have here is where he was many years ago and he's gone past this point since. I find that very likely.

That said...holy mackerel is this thing effective. "Effortless" doesn't even begin. Got to shoot it today...oh man. Never has a socket been mutilated for a better cause :D. I wonder if one of his earliest prototypes involved a molested socket :).

I may experiment with different front sights...various front rifle sights of this sort are pretty cheap.

No way am I doing this for anybody else - first it took freakin' HOURS, second it's just too close to Tim's patent.

The genuine Hexsite is for real y'all:

Mine's more of a "Hacksight" :D.

On another note: I think we can now conclude absolutely that my NewVaq is no longer SASS-legal :p.

defining "tooling"

I find myself preferring very visible front sights; fiber-optics on my 1911s, Millett orange-ramps on my Rugers, and paint on everything else, mostly.

But a Caspian ghost-ring rear blade seems ideal. I use them on two 1911s.
(I've tested their 'diamond', but my head tilts funny...)

I like your sights, but after testing a One Ragged Hole ghost-ring rear on one GP100 I find its ring OD too large, obscuring too much of my target.

Eyeballin' is personal.

In this case "ring diameter" is a non-issue because you focus on the target, not the front sight.

That's the big difference Tim Sheehan has been promoting. It's heresy from the Cooper-school system.

Once you go to a target-focus alignment the ring vanishes as far as obscuring the target goes.

I had a different view

While the ID of my O-R-H matches my Caspian IDs, the OD simply obscured too much of my target.
But I understand the concept....

(Simple test: Place a plaid shirt on a humanoid target.)
