seems the old slyfox doesnt like the new U.S. policy requiring proof of citizenship to aquire a drivers license. i hope his buddy bush doesnt cave in on this one.

if fox spent a quarter of the time on his own country as he does ours, maybe he could do something to improve his own people and keep them in mexico where they belong.

he even looks like a crook, with that moustache that appears to be penciled on.

Turns out that Fox is a crook after what he pulled in Mexico City recently by jailing the leading opposition for trumped up charges, he looks more like V. Putin than the savior of Mexico.

I assume you are referring to this story.

Mexico furious at tough US law on migrants

Mexico has reacted furiously to a bill signed into law by the US this week that would fund a border wall and prevent illegal Mexican migrants from obtaining US driving licences.

President Vicente Fox said he would lodge a diplomatic complaint, and was considering complaints to multilateral bodies if Mexico could not unable to resolve the problem bilaterally.

In the US, leaders of the Mexican community threatened to strike to send a message to US employers that they could not survive without cheap Mexican labour.

Santiago Creel, Mexico's interior secretary, said the “Real ID” law was “negative, inconvenient, and obstructionist”.

“Building walls doesn't help anyone build a good neighbourhood,” he said. “Taking away the possibility of obtaining driving licences for people who are working in legal jobs, who pay their taxes there, who send remittances home here, seems to us to be an extreme measure, particularly given the new understanding that we thought we had after the re-election of President Bush.”

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, mayor of Mexico City, supported Mr Fox's stance. He said the problem of growing immigration could be “resolved by encouraging development in Mexico and Central America, not by building walls and using the border control”.

Since 2002, Mexico has adopted a popular policy of issuing undocumented labourers with consular identity cards, which are accepted as proof of identity by many US states for issuing driving licences, and for opening bank accounts. Under the new law, this would no longer be possible. The immigration provisions approved by Congress were attached by House Republicans to a bill that will provide more than $80bn for the war in Iraq this year, giving lawmakers little choice but to support it.

The White House, which at first opposed the new restrictions, supported them when it became clear they would pass Congress in spite of administration opposition.

President George W. Bush has said he wants to deal with illegal immigration by creating a temporary guest worker programme. But many Republicans are using the anxiety about terrorism to push for a crackdown on illegal immigrants.

What "new understanding" was that? Illegal aliens pay taxes? How can an illegal alien work in a legal job? Mr. Fox, it's best if you just shut up.

So encourage it! Worry about your own country. Fix it yourself. Try not being corrupt.

thats funny! we're just one big ol neighborhood!
pshaaawwww!

wall the border!

Don't have chapter and verse but I've heard the southern border of Mexico has a similar problem to our southern border. How about just doing to them, here, what they do to their southern neighbors on their own southern border? I bet the justice of that policy would escape Vincente!
Steve.

It appears the President is having his own problems getting a drivers license.

Yeah, interceptor pilots are notorious for not being able to drive. Either that or liberals are notorious for lacking discernment.
“Building walls doesn't help anyone build a good neighbourhood,”
Then stay on your own side of the neighborhood you third world dirtballs.

The current Mexican Government is one based on racism towards the true Mexican people.. it is run by descendents of Spaniards who want to retain power, that is why they encourage illegal imigration. It gives the people hope, and keeps them from rebelling.

The whole immigration issue is going to blow up the republican party.

I don't see how any sane person from either party can be against controling our own borders.

I don't think it has anything to do with driving so much as it has to do with an officially sanctioned Identity card which should be reserved ONLY to those people who are here legally. Why not just issue TXDL's to anybody from any country.

On another note: Would somebody please explain to Vicente Fox what the meaning of the word "soveriegn" is. While I have very little malice towards the average immigrant, I do have much for those who continue to cause the problems out of their offices in Mexico City.

I don't mind them having U.S. DLs as long as they can't present them as valid ID at a U.S. polling place.

Besides, I thought NAFTA meant they could drive here with Mexican DLs...

Life's a bitch, ain't it?

If Fox was smart he'd just sit down and shut up.

If he wants to stoke the fires stateside, just keep it up.

Oh, OH, now he made Jesse Jackson mad..

MEXICO CITY - President Vicente Fox came under criticism Saturday after saying Mexicans were willing to take jobs "that not even blacks want to do in the United States."

Fox's remark Friday came a day after Mexico announced it would formally protest recent U.S. immigration reforms, including the decision to extend walls along the border and make it harder for illegal migrants to get driver's licenses.

"There's no doubt that the Mexican men and women — full of dignity, willpower and a capacity for work — are doing the work that not even blacks want to do in the United States," Fox told a meeting of the Texas-Mexico Frozen Food Council in the western city of Puerto Vallarta on Friday.

The Mexican newspaper Milenio cited "Vicente Fox's racist comment" in a small front-page headline, while the newspaper Reforma called the president's words "controversial."

The Rev. Jesse Jackson told CNN that the comments were "unwitting, unnecessary and inappropriate."

He said the president "should not confuse the need for sound legal immigration policy between the two countries, which is important, and the border disputes between the two countries, with a spurious comparison."

Mexico's foreign relations secretary, Luis Derbez, said Fox was not motivated by racism but was emphasizing that "Mexican migrants are making great contributions in the United States and that their role is a positive role."

Sheesh! Stop wasting time, effort and money.

1. Pay bounty on illegals, alive only for humanitarian reasons.
2. Have the state Adjutant General take charge of the prisoner.
3. Give them a fair court martial.
4. Give them a nice polite hanging.

Low cost, not a problem.

Who is damn tired of Mexican drug gangs ruling the streets, murdering moslem devil worshippers removing parts of the US of A and placing them under Shiia Law and politicians looking the other way while getting their pockets stuffed with bribe money!

Bush is becoming quite the liar as the years in office slide by. He proves himself to be such each and every time he maintains that his adminisration is taking border security seriously.

I am supposed to accept being detained at the airport if I forget and leave my Swiss Army knife in my carry on camera bag, yet any terrorist can walk across our southern border unimpeded?

What's wrong with this picture?

IMHO, Vincente Fox is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue for a verbal b*tch-slapping from the U.S., but that won't ever happen seeing as how he and Bush are political bed-buddies. :barf:

At the moment they are looking for a cop killer. The man they suspect is an illegal from Mexico. If he has made it back to Mexico they will never see him here .Why? Because mexico refuses to extradite criminals .There is a long list of murderers and other criminals who will never face justice because of this !

Yeah, we'd live in a much more free and just society if we could just shoot all people down who don't look, talk, and act like Geoff Timm.

Seriously, lines like that just fuel anti-gun garbage about all gun owners being blood thirsty paranoids. It's possible to make the case for tighter border controls without claiming that illegals are devil worshippers who should be executed without trial.
