Ugly Ruger barrels, what's to do?

I like my Vaquero, I really do but those Surgeon General's warnings on the barrel are damn ugly :barf:. Anyone ever heard of someone rebarreling just to get rid of the writing? Maybe some bondo and refinish :D?

There are several other Ruger specialists out there who can also eliminate the warning. IIRC, Gary Reeder and Hamilton Bowen are two of them. In any case, that will likely be a lot cheaper than a re-barrel.:)

Does Ruger seem to go out of its way to make ugly guns???

Their autos are butt ugly.

Their DA revolvers are blocky in an ugly sort of way

Their SA revolvers look OK , but the warning really messes them up

I guess they sell guns to people who dont care about appearances.

Although I'm not particualrly a Ruger fan, there are two facts of life I tell the students in my CCW classes: first, if uglier guns are built, Ruger will probably build them; second, you can probably drag your Ruger home behind your car and it might be scratched up but it will probably work when you get there.

I have two Rugers (P90 & Security Six) and a Glock 19, among others, so I guess that I am one of those less concerned about appearance than I am about reliability and functionality.:) I agree with y'all about all the unneeded warnings printed on the barrels though. Regards.

HEY! MY RUGERS ARE BEAUTIFUL

I don't care how my machines look, but I think my GP's and Redhawks are fine-looking anyway.

Function is my hot button.

Someday, I'll get a rollmark on a gun that says: "Attention: using this gun as intended can lead to improved personal safety."

Brownell's has several barrel's to replace the offending one with. The add actually state's it's a replacement for the very reason you posted.

LMAO! :D Never could stand the sight of Ruger's double action revolvers. Hell for stout 'n butt ugly. Their SA revos are satisfactory looking though.
