Uberti Sixguns

I'm thinking of getting a used Uberti Cattleman, but I've never shot one before. Any opinions on them?

"A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The individual right to keep and bear arms shall not be denied or infringed by the State or political subdivision of the State." Alaska State Constitution, Art. 1, Sec 19.

From what I hear, the Uberti is a fine revolver, just make sure the timing is ok, as thats one potential problem, if its been shot a lot. Also wouldn't put a lot of full house loads thru it. If you want to do that, buy the Ruger. Just my opinion.
45 Shooter

I'd one in 45 L.C.In general is a fine gun. I´d troubles with it's accuracy.

I agree, buy a Ruger.

I have put over 30,000 rounds total through UBERTI sixguns in 357, 38/40, 44/40, and 45COLT. I have broken 3 bolt springs which are easily replaced and cheap. The latter three are CIMARRON sixguns. All four are superbly accurate; the 357 will outshoot most RUGER 357 sixguns and I've been a RUGER lover since Christ was a corporal. In my hands all four shot low but dead on for windage; give me my file, time to sight in a sixgun. AIN'T NUTTIN BETTER THAN FIXED SIGHTS, IF THEY'RE FIXED IN THE RIGHT PLACE! TM

I've had an Uberti Regulator with dual 45 Colt and 45 ACP cylinders for about 6 years now. I had to get used to the V notch sight and that it has a tendancy to shoot low. The only problem I've had is that the screws tend to get loose which one day I'll correct with some locktite. However, if I were to buy the same configuration again I'd go for the Ruger New Model Blackhawk Convertible.

I owned a Uberti .45 Colt, 4-3/4" for about a year. Got it when Mitchell was the importer. Though I'd ordered the fixed sight, what came was an adjustable (?) rear and ramped front. The gun was wonderfully tight, perfectly ranged and timed, and the finish...blue, case colors and brass with one-piece walnut grips, made for a most attractive carry gun.
It was very accurate, and I'd have kept it except for three circumstances: 1) It shot way too high with standard loads (no Ruger Rocket loads in this Colt clone) even with the rear sight all the way down. 2) The mainspring broke twice in six months. Mitchell replaced them free, but still...and 3) I got a chance to trade it in very advantageously.
If you don't like Rugers, and the thought of taking a chance on a Colt gives you a sour stomach, the Uberti clones are pretty good. Lay in a supply of spare springs, and keep the loads reasonable.

If they take our guns, I intend to let my hair grow long and acquire the jawbone of an ass.
