Uberti Flat Top .45 Colt...

This was the first time I'd shot my pet handload in my recently acquired Uberti Flat Top .45 Colt. This load is what the younger shooters call a mouse***t load, moving out at 885 fps out of my guns.

This has been typical of all my loads with Winchester 231 powder.

Let the younger shooters call it what they want. With that grouping, it would do the job and than some. Nice shooting.

I agree. Who needs hot loads when you can shoot like that. I consider myself a youngster, and I'll still take a nice medium load over a real hot load most days of the week. I think it's just more enjoyable that way.

Bob,
I always enjoy pictures of your guns. When targets are also included, my mind trys to conjure up a picture of you shooting the gun. So is it you pacing off the distance, turning and drawing, and popping off the rounds with one hand? Or is it more like you sitting with your back to the tree, with both wrists supported on your knees, and squeezing off the shots? at 10 yards. [insert smilie face here-don't know how to do that]

These days its more like an indoor range. I shoot using both hands in my sort of modified Weaver stance. I face about ninety degrees to the target, more or less, and use a firm two-hand hold.
Gradually I'm losing more and more of the outdoor ranges.

Very nice shooting Bob! But only 885 fps with a 255 grain bullet??! What's the point?

Just wanted a nice mild shooting load easy on my Ubertis and Colt. My days of the 350 grainers at 1200 fps are fading behind me.

850 to 900fps is pretty close the original speed for the .45colt.

I've had them down to ~750fps out of a 7 1/2" barrel.
Fun to shoot.

Love your pics

Still can't figger out how to paste the picture into the message. My comfort level is at the 900-1000 range with my Bisleys in 45 and 44Spl. I'm stuck on 8gr of Unique with 255 and 240 from Missouri Bullets.
