uberti cattleman convertiable

I have a chance to pick up one in a 44mag / 44-40 cal. for $300. Cant find out alot about this convertible on the internet or the website. When did they stop making this convertiable? Haven't seen it in person yet but will tomorrow. The gun has case hardened receiver with the gold on the bottom of it is all i know for now.He also told me it was a replica of the colt peace maker.

It a Colt 1873 SAA clone. Don't know when they quit making them but my Cimarron Uberti was made in 2000. I wouldn't take 300 for mine and I don't have the .44 special cylinder.

If it's in good shape, $300 is a good deal. I've got a .44-40 w/.44 spl cylinder that I wouldn't think of selling for less than around $450.
 
Uberti Buckhorn

Righteous, I had a Uberti .44rem mag w/ .44/40 and I remember at the time Uberti called it the "Buckhorn". Was it a Cattleman also ? I don't know. One outstanding thing I do remember is that it was more accurate that I would figure a SAA clone could ever be, even with full factory power .44mags.
 
If it's in good shape that's a fine deal. I wouldn't take less than $400 for mine and it's not a convertible.

Finally picked it up today. Stopped by the range with it and shot great with the 44 mag but when i changed over to the 44-40 it would hang up when cocking the trigger some. I can tell that cylinder has not been used much at all so maybe it just needs breaking in. Still deciding if i will keep it or sell it off. heres a pic of it.
 
Do you know for certain that the .44-40 cylinder was fitted to the gun? That they did, in fact, come as a set?

he said they came as a set. I blew it all out and cleaned everything last night real well as it was pretty dirty. Might try it again but figure i will sell it for $400, i don't give guns a second chance usually. Shot about 4 inches high with the 44mag but dead on the money with the 44-40.
