uberti birds head stallion old west defense?

No, but I like the looks of a birds head grip and am a fan of the 38 Special. I have also heard good things about the Uberti.

Hopefully Mr. Wright and a few others will be along to share their knowledge.

A couple of thoughts; since it lacks a transfer bar ignition, it should not be carried with a loaded chamber under the hammer. That's fine for a cowboy action shooter but not so good for a carry gun.

The Stallion series (also called a Model P Junior by another importer) is a scaled down version of the classic Colt pattern single action. That's why they are not offered in big bore calibers. Some shooters with smaller hands like them but there are not as many aftermarket parts and accessories available for them.

Unlike Uberti's full sized 1873 Cattleman line, the Stallion is not a reproduction of anything that existed in the 19th Century. Whether that means anything is up to you.

If I wanted to carry a single action revolver for personal defense I'd probably look for one of the distributor special Ruger New Vaqueros with the birdshead grip and 3.5 (ish) inch barrels. They make them in .45 Colt or .45 ACP.
