Uberti 1858 NMA's are back

As many of you surely noticed the Uberti Remmies were unavailable for a long time, but are back now. I head rumors the company was retooling to compete with improving Pietta revolvers. Did anyone get one for Christmas? Have they changed?

Uberti Improved Tooling?

Can anyone verify this rumor? If Uberti has improved their tooling, is there a way to tell if a particular percussion revolver was made with the new tooling?

They're already made on CNC equipment. Dunno how much retooling they can stand. Maybe they needed new belt sanders.:D

Uberti began forging their Remington frames several years ago while the Pietta frames are cast.
Perhaps that's the new tooling that's being referred to which is already part of their standard production. :)

Just added a newly manufactured Uberti Remington to the gunbox last week, and it's gorgeous. Pietta ought to learn to hide their markings under the loading lever like Uberti does. The "antique" finish on the Uberti (special order from Taylors) is gorgeous. Great product. Shot 2 inches at 25 yards first day out.

My 2009 Uberti Rem (forged) was not impressive. The hammer had a lot of side-to-side play and wanted to mar the left side of the hammer channel. The barrel-cylinder gap was excessive. And the cylinder pin was loose in its channel. The gun was pretty but was not as good as the 1960s/70s Ubertis, which were tighter.
