I bought a TZ99 nib. ran 200 rds through it fine, then a dealer turned me on to some free ammo to try, silver bear 9mm nickel plated steel case.after 20 rds a case got stuck in chamber and about riped off my extractor(gun was cleaned befor trip).after taking it apart and a good clean, went back to range with brass case ammo it extracted fine but would not function properly.after each shot it locked back like it was empty, hit the slide release it goes into battery and shoots, then locks back again.anyone have this problem? and is there any warranty on these guns?suggsetions? or am i screwed.

I shoot with my buddy and his tz every 2 weeks..I actually love
his gun....an inexpensive SIG. No problems what so ever with his.
A bent slide lock? Strange, I would put a mag with an empty case in it, into the gun and see what is activating the slide stop, your follower cant be doing it. Check it out. If you cant find the prob., take it to a smith. IMO the gun has a general reputation for being a nice gun....even more so for the money.

Shoot well

That's odd; my TZ99 really loves the Silver Bear stuff.

I don't know what to say other than that :(

I love my TZ-99,but i've heard of all sorts of weird things happening to guns using that silver bear.I've never tried it though.

I will buy cheap ammo when I can find it. I will not however shoot any ammo with steel cases in any of my guns. I have a friend shoot some Wolf ammo in a Chicom SKS and it messed up the gun big time. He ended up selling the gun to someone else for parts.:(

Steel case should be fine for AK, but pistol's usually abit trickier. BTW I've shot wolf 9mm in my TZ99, worked just fine, although I'll probably switch to something else.

Another reason not to use steel-cased ammunition in a handgun.

Especially not one you might have to defend your life with.;)

Silver Bear Strikes Again! I've heard of multiple complaints of Silver Bear cases jamming. The latest two where on a new HS2000 and a just out of the box H&K USP .45. IIRC, as least one of these guns had the same slide lock back problem after the jamb.

Quality control of Silver Bear & Wolf leads a lot to be desired. Some folk shoot an entire case without any problem whatsoever, yet others have a jammed case on the first mag. Seems as if an oversized case, overcharged load, or a round with a bullet set back too far, finds it's way into a box more often than it should.

Since CCI Blazer, S&B, Magtech, etc., can usually be found on sale for about the same price, shooting the steel cased stuff is an unnecessary risk.

Now, as far as the TZ goes, try this. Remove the slide, and insert a mag. Push the mag follower down with your finger, and make sure the slide hold back mechanism drops, and does not rub the mag body. If it does, you should be able to adjust it with needle nose pliers. Then check the bottom of the slide for any burrs that could be catching the mechanism. If that doesn't fix it, take it to a gunsmith.

I must have the freak TZ99. I've shot quite a bit of both Wolf and Silver bear out of my TZ without complaint, but it chokes on every round with S&B. Go figure.

Hey gungus, thanks alot for the info I will try it tomarrow and see how it goes. This is the first time I've used this stuff in anything other than the uzi. 9mm and .45 silver bear rolls right through the uzi with no problems and ok performance. Since it was my gun guy that gave me the free 100rds and said it would shoot it no problem is going to pay all repairs, nice guy.

I've heard a lot of great things about the TZ-99. i just hope SA can stay open and production consistent.

But that's an ammo failure not the gun.

Never shoot that cheap stuff. Tempting but its cheap because it's ususally made with steel cases in a third world country by a guy with poor math skills and illiterate.

Too many kabooms from that cheap imported ammo.

The only imported ammo that was quality with good reloadable brass was from Hungary, a company named MFS. Good hot but quality ammo. I chrono'd it and the deviations were very low.

But that other stuff claims guns every week a range somewhere in the US.

Be smart and spend a little more.

Or better yet, RELOAD YOUR OWN!
