TZ-99 Erratum

[I had previously posted that it was not possible to activte the slide stop/release with the decocking lever of the TZ-99 just before TFL going down.]

The day before TFL went down, I had visited an acquaintance with a TZ-99 to see if his would work as described by other TFL members (activating the stop with the lever). My TZ did not seem to be able to do it. Well, his did work. We had disassemble the guns to examine the parts and they appeared identical. So why wasn't my gun able to activate the stop with the lever?

After reassembling my TZ (with thoughts of swapping parts later to see if that would work that way) I proceeded to work the decocking lever to try to get the slide stop/release to go into the stop notch. Wouldn't go. Friend tried it, wouldn't go. I tried it one more time, this time applying considerably more pressure to the lever. Sure enough, the stop/release slowly went into the notch to my surprise and relief. Tried it a few more times, each time the process getting easier to accomplish.

Apparently, there must have been some crud somewhere in the frame that prevented the stop/release from moving up when it was in the rear position. A could have sworn I measured the parts correctly to see if the decocking lever and slide stop/release would or wouldn't engage when the stop/release was in the rear position but I guess I measured incorrectly. My bad.

In short, my original post was in error. The slide stop/release can be activated by the decocking lever as described by other members. Never would have known without TFL.
