Tyler t grip vs. hogue monogrip

Hogue offers much more grip control (especially if your hands are sweaty or wet) and forces you to grip the gun exactly the same way every time you grab it. Having a very consistent grip is a key to accurate revolver shooting. But by using finger grooves they won't fit every hand the same. If they work for your hand size they're pretty hard to beat. They are MUCH better than what S&W came up with for a grip design. A lot of pros have shot a lot of incredible scores for many years using Hogue Monogrips. All of my carry and competiton S&Ws wear them they work very well for me. Their wood grips are also very good if you can't deal with "rubber".

I'll pitch my vote for the Tyler. The Hogues may be better as far as wet & sweaty hands, but I've always made do just fine with the classicer look of the Tylers.

I like the Tyler's, I really like the trigger shoes they make. Back in the 80's when I was spending hours behind rifles, I fell in love with trigger shoes. Go to their website, print the form, fill it out, mail it with a cashiers check, and you will get em in 4 to 6 weeks..

I've used both, and like both, but I guess I like the look of a T-grip better. It's a "classic" look I suppose. I would think Hogues work better with a heavy recoiling gun, though.

A classic "Rosco." S&W Model 12-2.

Althought this isn't a "heavy" recoiler, the stock grips were slick as a baby's bottom, so they had to go. The Hogues were available, and inexpensive. They also have a "serious business" look, I must admit.

S&W, Model 21-4, "Thunder Ranch", in 44 Special.

Just wanted to throw this photo in with Cajun Bass’s of a 21.
There are so many grips and good ones try as many as you can then buy.

This is definitely a personal preference issue. In my case, I like the T-grips and have them on most of my revolvers. Really fits my hand and improves my grip. Looks cool, too.

It's kind of cheesy to refer to a gun as a "Rosco."

We all know that the proper spelling is "Roscoe." :D

Like others, I like the Tylers for medium-frame .38's. For Magnums, I prefer something that fills my hands, like the wider target grips or Ahrends.

Since I carry almost always CWP the T grip is my choice. I just purchased on ebay a I think it was an old Pacmeyr plastic style T grip for my .38 snub five shot and a Tyler T grip for my S&W 66. The other grip Hogue styles I keep for my field 4 inch Ruger .357 and open holster carry.

I just ordered a Tyler to go on my new old Model 15. Hogues work great but the Tyler is so much classier.

Both feel good to me, but I prefer the feel and appearance of the Tyler T Grip. [/QUOTE
