So what will the new governor have in store for us? Will he follow Bush's footsteps and keep everything as-is in the gun department?
 
I think so. He's a good Aggie, and we Aggies like our beer, girls and guns. I don't think there will be any changes in Texas.
 
IIRC when Perry ran for lieutenant governor of Texas he was rated "A" by the Texas State Rifle Association.
 
The way the Texas Legislature is structured, the Lt. Gov. is President Pro Tem of the Senate. He and the Speaker of the House are actually the two most powerful insofar as legislation passing or not passing.

Bush could not have gotten any of "his" ideas through the Senate without the cooperation of the Lt. Gov.

Does anybody know who succeeds Perry as P.P.T. of the Senate?
