The goal of the founding fathers self-government is to insure that the people are to be in every way involved with the running of the country.

And look what it has turned into, a huge bloated mass of liars and cheats and greedy people.

Yes Chris, but why?

Because the "people" are stupid, gullable and apathetic.

We are letting these politicians do this to us...

CMOS,
You're right. Power isn't siezied, it is forfeited. A teacher has no power if those in her class don't give her their attention. A tyrant has no power except if the people obey him. Power is an interesting thing. This is why the greatest philosopy of resistance is Non-violent, Non-cooperation. If the Congress passes a law that is imoral, then refuse to abide by that law. If you sit on a jury that is hearing a case of an accused person who neither hurt anybody, nor caused property loss or damage, then REFUSE TO Convict. I will never convict somebody on a charge beginning with "Attempted", or "Conspired" or "posession of". Every charge that begins with those words means that the accused didn't actually commit any moral wrong, but rather the Government didn't like his flaunting his liberty. Even in the most totalitarian states, they only function by the consent of the governed. Fear is the weapon used to control.
I have decided to live in a manner that throughout my life I will have nothing to lose, therefore, I cannot be paralized by fear from doing the right thing. I don't own a house, and my vehicles are paid for. The only assets that I have that really matter is firearms. They can't be seized except should I become a felon, and I don't plan on having record of any of my firearms except the most useless. We should all keep in mind that the more you have to lose the more you will suck up, and Kow-Tow to those who you percieve to have authority. If you don't pay property tax, then you find quickly that you never really owned your land but rather leased it from the Government. If you don't pay income tax, you will be imprisoned though debtors prisons are specifically outlawed in the Constitution. If you fall behind on child support through loss of employment or physical handicap, you will be thrown in jail. Why is all of this happening? Because the people allow it. What is needed is a leader who can lead us in a non-violent revolt against the unconstitutional powers that control the nation today. We all are prone to lose somthing, but for me, the only thing I'll ever be able to lose is my life. Ghandi led a completely peaceful revolt (if that is what you want to call it)/restoration of his country, and the only ones who were violent was the Brittish. They didn't know how to fight those who refused to fight back. This is how you'll get the Constitutional Republic restored. Not through violence.

Find out just what the people will submit to and you've found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows or with both.
The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.
Frederick Douglass, Aug 4 1857

CMOS, correct. I heard a portion of Monroe's inaugural speech read over the weekend. It referenced a ancient roman poem about the downfall of civilizations. Talked about the slide into depravity, vox populi, and 'populist' support, i.e. mob mentatility and rule. It is the people's slide into depravity and their desire for 'bread' and 'entertainment' instead of remaining vigilant and dedicated to the moral underpinnings of their society and the dedication to the same that makes them susceptible to usurpation. The correlations of what happened to Rome and what is happening here, now, in this country are eerily similar.

Thank you gentlemen. I see you got my point.

The realizatiuon that there really is no way to stop the current trend is sobering for me. It seems we, the few of us here, are only able to watch while this once great country is handed over to the idiot socialists.

Well, it looks like Nakita Kruschiev was right...

CMOS, "We are letting these politicians do this to us..."

As everyone by now knows, I (personally) believe it is even worse than you say.

We, as members of the republic, are selecting, electing, and appointing these politicians and their cronies to do this to us.

so who do we get to present this on the floor of the Senate and the House of Representatives. do we have to get a congressman or congresswoman to submit it or can we do it as citizens?

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what is for lunch.
Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.
Let he that hath no sword sell his garment and buy one. Luke 22-36
They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night. Song of Solomon 3-8
The man that can keep his head and aims carefully when the situation has gone bad and lead is flying usually wins the fight.
