Two new posters -- and request for photos of muzzle flashes

Oleg,

Check ar15.com's pic of the week. It's a full auto .223 with an AK style muzzle brake. LOTS of flash!

Oleg -

Might have one or two I could send. However, they're likely to be very large files (1+M). Is that a problem at your end?

Good posters. Sounds like maybe you faked the muzzle flash--I hope so. Or is the baby wearing ear protection?
I've noticed that if you strip everything out of .22 rounds and just fire the primer you get some flash, but not much. Don't know if that would help.

The second one is a bit less powerful for RKBA but much more universal appeal. The first one will likely put off some mothers but will force the connection to RKBA where the other will not. Good tools for different discussions.

OK, they're comin' at you in a couple minutes. Looked them over, and they're not as large as I thought, though. However, I think you'll find the muzzle flash is much larger than you can use...

Oleg... first, let me go on record as saying you have one of the finest RKBA sites on the net. The posters are dead on, and show a great deal of professionalism as far as the graphics go. Fine job. :)

Second... who was the parent? You mentioned that he was a fellow TFL'er, and I have to admit that I'm curious to who it is...

I would think he'd join the discussion soon enough and tell call (if so inclined).

Yes, muzzle flash was faked and I had to touch out the cocked hammer, too :) I hope to re-edit the image with a flash from photographic source later.

Oleg, I took some pictures after dark several years ago of a 50 CAL muzzle loader. The guy with the muzzle loader loaded it with a full hunting load. Very impressive. The flash was about 6 feet long. Set the camera on a tripod and locked the shutter open. Perhaps you could do a double exposure, use open shutter for the muzzle flash and then flash for the shooter. Also I did several pictures after dark with several different self defense calibers and loads to see what gave the least flash. If you want smoke just load up some black powder cartridges. :D BILL

Just load a few cartridges with regular powder and add a little Black Powder to the mix. Drip a little candle wax in it to seal it up. I've done this with good results for a school project. It'll give a nice flash.

Hey, that's me and my youngest daughter Rosemarie. I haven't been on TFL for a few days, so I couldn't say hello earlier.
It was a great opportunity to help Oleg with his RKBA art and messages. And his site has been more persuasive in convincing my wife on RKBA and concealed carry issues than I have.
Oleg has also been very successful in getting those afraid, against or ambivalent with firearms to go on the range and actually experience shooting. It's a great to see someone doing so much work to spread the word. Not putting others down here at TFL by omission, but other progun friends (and even myself) have not done so much work to convince others of the importance of the Second Amendment, and that shooting can be an enjoyable and a positive experience.

Thanks, Mark.

For an encore, I will have a poster (probably for sas-aim site) of Mark's charming spouse with a Mossberg 590 and an attitude. Coming soon...

Love the first one! The "muzzle flash" is pretty good, really! maybe some grey in a corona around it and a bit of orange for the bloom would be in order, but it's almost perfect, the way it is.

Looked again. Forget about it! It's great. Leave it alone! (If you're dead set on super-reality, then do the same thing with the fake muzzle bloom and jam the slide about half-way open, with an empty half-extracted case visible in the ejection port!)

You're getting really good at this propoganda stuff, Rat!! (Er, that's actually a compliment....)

Want a big muzzle flash? Try blackpowder!

When July 4 use to roll around, I'd celebrate by shooting blanks with my Ruger Old Army. My brother stood to the side and told me the flash was about 6 feet long. It did put out an impressive fireball. Why play with firecrackers or other expensive pyrotechnics when you have a Ruger?

Much of the credit actually goes to Q who is helping me understand the intended audience.

And now (drum roll), Mark's better half complete with black tactical hardware wielded in good cause:

Don't think many goblins would bother her kids. At least not more than once.

Unfortunately, I am having trouble staying away from the digital camera and paying for that with lower than usual resolution and hence smaller hi-res posters. Oh, well...can always re-shoot them on film (I shot some ISO25 B&W of the first image)

Very cool, Dave.

Oleg, the new ones are nice. The only problem I saw was that the lady kind of fades into the background on the dream/nightmare poster, and it makes the tags kind of confusing.

Hey, Oleg. Have I ever said thanks?

There are few things more persuasive than a good photo. Thanks for all your work toward preserving our freedoms.
