Thru trades I have procured a second gen G17 and a third gen 17C with extra unported barrel. I have put over 700 rds thru both and here are my impressions: I had to go to liter recoil springs in both to cycle my range ammo (Ga Arms and American Eagle 124gr FMJ). I went to an ISMI captive spring/rod 15lb in the 17C and a Wolff non-captive spring/rod 14lb in the 17. On the 17 I had to replace the rear sight with a stock Glock sight higher than original (pistol shot a little low). I could tell little if any difference between shooting the ported and unported barrels in the 9mm 17C. I like the unported best because it is less messy. Both pistols feel good in the hand and both are accurate. Overall I would say the third gen 17C using the unported barrel is most accurate. As usual the Glock 10rd mags would not function 100% until I replaced the followers and mag springs. I have 5 hi caps that all function well however. I couldn't resist so yesterday I ordered a KKM barrel for the second gen G17. I will give a report on it after a few hundred rounds. Now I need a first gen G17 to round out my collection.
