Two deals I couldn't pass up

The first one I ran into was a new in box 1980-81 Combat Commander in .38 Super. The exact gun I wanted and unfired, couldn't pass it up.

The second was a very reasonably priced Model 41.

The Commander came in yesterday and the Model 41 next week.

Hey glenncal1,
What, my I ask, did you give for the 41?
I've wanted one of those forever, and If you see them at auction they start at 500 and go up up up.

Happy shooting.

That Smith 41, looks to be the newer model, if not brand new. Give us an idea of what you paid for it so we know what to expect of what is possible. I too have wanted a 41, ever since I first shot one and they have all been in the $700.00 + price range.

Be Safe !!!

glenn,

If the 38 Super don't shoot to well, get a Bar-sto barrel in .38 Super. They make the round seat on the case mouth and not the rim like Colt barrels do. It may very well up your guns accuracy.

I have Firefox, and I can see them. My 1st 1911 was a combat commander, wish I could find a .45 in the same year and shape...nice find.

ok, I can see them now.....That 41 is georgous!

I was on the first time over my company vpn.... photobucket blocked. But now on my own connection, they come up fine. That 41 was great wood too!

Both guns were in the $700 range, a bit more after shipping. I cleaned and oiled the commander tonite. If it has evver been shot there is absolutely no evidence of it, Not a scratch on the breechface or a mark on the magazines. That will change soon, I promise. Already found a deal on a 7" barrel for the 41. It has a weaver base on it and I will scope it to have both a 5" plinker and a 7" target gun.

Those are two guns that I envy, Commander in 38 Super especially, and the model 41. My brother in-law has a couple model 41's as he used to shoot in competition with me. I bought Hi Standards as the Model 41's were a bit steep for me back in those days, but when I shot his model 41's I was sold. Congratulations on the fine choice of pistols.

Well the commander is no longer NIB unfired. Sent 100 rounds downrange last nite. Couple FT feeds probably my fault. Gun shot great. Love the commander size and I was shooting Magtech .38 supers, seemed like pretty stout loads.
