Twist needing a matched grain

On a 260 AR with a 8.5 twist, what would be the weight grain for that combo ?

I do not shoot that caliber but a quick search seems to indicate up to 130gr should be fine although some VLD's at 130gr need a 1-8 while the 140gr smk looks like a 1-8.5 would spin it just enough .

Generally speaking it appears the longer match bullets in the 130 to 142gr weights need the 1-8 twist while most of the shorter hunting type bullets will work just fine with a 1-8.5

but that's all from a guy that doesn't even shoot the 6.5mm so that's all worth what you paid for it

try the 123 and 140 SMKs with either Varget or IMR 4350

the .260 is a easy cartridge to find good loads for and the Sierras shoot great at magazine specs

This or Accubonds in the 129-142 grain range.
