The turkeys have made a big comeback in the last 40 years. According to the NWTF we have Osceolia starin here in St. Johns county. They are long and lean and they will wander through the water just like a deer or hog, even though I think calling a gobbler through a we swamp would be hard.
What is a worry, as was mentioned, is that we have got a growing coyote population in the state. Where as 10 years ago we never saw one here on the east side of the St. Johns river near St. Augustine now they are a regular occurence. Can't imagine that they are not turkey eaters from the word go...............
