Turkey Gun

Hey all,
I just got a Benelli SBE II for turkey hunting this spring. I have a few questions. How many of you use a red dot for turkey hunting? Should I get the extra full choke? Last question, has anyone patterned this gun? I know I know - all guns pattern diffeently; I'm just looking for what others have found useful so that I can cut down the selection. Thanks.

I use a Berreta 390 with extended Xtra full choke. I have a Red Dot mounted on a saddle mount. I shoot the 3" mags and use either #5 or #6 coppers. Seems to work well for me. I usually get some of the Camo tape and put it on during Turkey season. I am having second thoughts on the red dot, as I have had 2 birds spook on me and I think it might be the "glint" of the lenses they are seeing. I have also used the Tru Glo sights and think they work just about as well. I may have just talked myself out of using the red dot again :D

get comfy with your gun and pattern it and you don't really need to go overboard. i use my cheapest shotgun turkey hunting because it's what i've always used. you may need a new choke, but check your patterns first. sights aren't that important, especially if it's a gun you're used to. my front bead broke off some time during this year's hunt, so that all was left was a little nub and the rear bead, and i still had no problem putting the pellets on target in pretty dense woods outside of 30 yards. nice gun though, the SBE2, it's on my "some day" list. since we're chatting i use an extra-full choke with 3 1/2" supermag #5. yea, it gives me a headache to shoot at the range, but i've always been one to tend to the "overkill" side for a clean kill.
